Training and support

Green Start

Green Start is an awareness raising, entry level training, and business review tool available to those tourism businesses in England that seek to reduce their impacts on the environment or community in which they are located. It is also an on-line community of like-minded businesses with an interest in the delivery and management of sustainable tourism.

Keep it Real

Keep it Real is a toolkit to help tourism businesses to sell sustainability as part of their unique offer. It is designed for those businesses who have already taken action to be more sustainable and want to maximise the marketing opportunities that may exist. Produced by England's regional tourism bodies in association with VisitEngland, and written by the International Centre for Responsible Tourism, the toolkit is packed with case studies from around the country.
By illustrating the Who, Why, Where, When and What is involved, Keep it Real is designed to give businesses the confidence to talk about sustainability and make it part of their sales proposition.

The Norfolk coast has a high concentration of medieval churches, built mainly from flint and brick with some carrstone to the west. They vary from the spectacularly grand, notably at Salthouse, Blakeney and Cley, to tiny, remote and nationally-rare round-towered versions. 'Norfolk would not be Norfolk without a church tower on the horizon or round a corner up a lane.' John Betjeman
