The combination of a stunning rural location, diversity of habitats and heritage of historic buildings means that Holkham offers extensive opportunities for learning outside the classroom.
Stretching from Burnham Overy in the West to Blakeney in the East, Holkham National Nature Reserve covers over 3,000 hectares and comprises of five main habitats sand & mudflats, sand dunes, salt marsh, woodland and grazing marshes.
Home to a herd of fallow deer, Holkham Park covers 3,000 acres and includes a mile long lake and the largest Walled Garden in Britain. Housed within the Park is an eighteenth century Palladian mansion (still a family home) and a Bygones Museum which displays local heritage about life in times gone by.
Holkham Estate is a privately owned family estate and has been since its inception in the eighteenth century. It has a long agricultural history and strives to develop innovative, sustainable solutions today. It is working hard on Education, Renewable Energy and Social Responsibility.

Yes, but should be booked via the education officer to ensure access is available.
Please help us to record educational activity in the AONB by reporting your visit to the site education officer, who will also be happy to provide advice about your visit.
It is particularly important to contact the site education officer if bringing a large group or arriving by coach.

Groups are encouraged to book guided visits if planning to visit Holkham Hall and The Bygones Museum as they use a variety of resources to bring learning to life.
