This section tells you all about the fund and how you can apply for a grant.

'''Applications are now being invited for 2010-11 funding. See Guidance for applying for more information.

Aims of the SDF

2) To develop and test ways of achieving a more sustainable way of living, in an area of great natural beauty and diversity.

3) To conserve and enhance the local characteristics of landscape, wildlife, culture, land use and community.

4) To sustain the social well being and economic viability of communities

5) To encourage individuals, community groups and businesses to co-operate together to develop practical and sustainable solutions for the management of their activities.
What is Sustainable Development?
Sustainable Development promotes and enhances the environmental, economic and community well being of the Norfolk Coast, to support a better quality of life for everyone, now and for future generations. This underpins the Sustainable Development Fund which exists to provide one-off payments to initiate suitable projects – by definition these projects must be sustainable and self-sustaining in the long term.

Achieving sustainable development requires working towards four main goals at the same time:
• Social progress which meets the needs of everyone
• Effective protection of the environment
• Ensuring a diverse and prosperous rural economy
• Prudent use of natural resources

The Grant Advisory Panel seek to ensure that the cumulative impact of the SDF in the AONB is a balanced achievement of the four main goals of sustainable development.
Who can apply?
Individuals, community, voluntary and partnership groups (including parish councils), charities, businesses, public bodies and other organisations. You do not have to live/work within the AONB to apply but the project must provide sustainable benefits to the area.
How much is available?
Normally between £250 – £10,000 for up to 75% of the project costs.
